![]() Maybe it works better on other platforms but they sell it on PC so it should fucking work on PC. Driving is so horrible I have a feeling they patched the game to make it OK to run over civilians. The sneaking is poorly implemented and straight up doesn't work most of the time. It seems like they wanted to take from Just Cause and have a freeing up neighborhood by neighborhood thing but they don't give you the freedom to do that in your own time, you need to follow the Primary missions of the game which is annoying. So you just drive around the same block a few times until you lose them. There's a running away from the cops thing which is straight from GTA but with worse driving mechanics, a smaller map, and no shoot-while-you-drive thing. You can climb buildings which feels straight out of assassins creed but doesn't quite work as well. I skip every conversation I can.Īll this could be overlooked it the gameplay was good but the gameplay feels like half-assed inclusions of mechanics from better games. In one conversation Sean chews out a French woman/his love interest for taking part in the resistance by saying "It's not your fight!" when 1) she is French, 2) Nazis killed her brother, and 3) Sean knows both these things. Then with women he just hits on them and they call him a pig. Other man: "Hon, Hon, Hon, I wouldn't let you date my sister" I swear half of all Dialogue between Sean and other men go like this: Speaking of dull story, the dialogue in this game is awful. Why not change tiny parts of your dull story to comport with what actually happened? It's so lazy to change widely know facts about the war does no real reason. Germany instead invaded The Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg to out flank this line and beat the French army in 1940. France invaded parts of the Saarland that month then retreated to the heavily fortified Maginot line which sat on the border between France and Germany in Alsace, expecting a German advance. In real life: France and Germany were at War on September 1, 1939. The next day Germany invaded France through Alsace and meet littler French resistance. So in the intro it's 1940, you drive from France to Germany without a problem, Sean's French friend says "Hitler might want to go to war soon." Sean, a person living right across the German Border doesn't know about Hitler and just says he doesn't read the news. But Jesus this game goes almost out of its way to be historically inaccurate. So I normally don't care about exact historical accuracy in media. And it also is filled with history so bad and lazy that it's shocking. The whole thing takes far too long and doesn't advance the plot beyond giving him a reason to hate Nazis (a Nazi killed his friend after they pushed that Nazi's car off a cliff). There's a mission where he must boringly drive a car from France to The German Saarland, he gets in a boring fist fight then needs to run away from the cops then needs to participate in a racing event then decides to play a prank on the winner of the race by pushing a car off a cliff then his friend gets killed and the Nazis invade France and burn his friends house down. After that it immediately cuts to 3 months earlier when Sean is just a race car driver living in Alsace, France with his friends. The mission is bland but it's basically a tutorial. The game starts off with Sean, a brutish, foul-mouthed Irishman with a dark mysterious past, getting drunk at a strip club then going on his first mission with the Resistance. Well that was annoying but now the he works and I can finally get down to playing it. Eventually I figured out that I had to reinstall the game under the Origin library. ![]() I got in touch with the EA support but they were so unhelpful. ![]() I was online and the support button in the launch menu lead to a dead buggy website. I downloaded and installed it but when I tried to launch the game it told me I had to be online so that EA could verify that I bought the game. $20 seemed like a lot for a 9 year old game but what the hell. I bought Madden 08 on Amazon before and it worked really well so I bought it. I couldn't buy it on Steam, which sucked but I could buy it on Amazon. So a few days ago I watched a YouTube video about The Saboteur and was interested in the cool mood it seemed to have, the time period, and my assumption that it would be like Just Cause in occupied Paris. Let me begin with the process of buying it and starting the game. I hate that they squander the one cool idea they have and that for the honestly cool tone that's set early in the game there isn't any substance to sustain it. I hate that the game play is just clearly a mush of stolen ideas from better games. I bought The Saboteur a few days ago and I don't really seem to have anywhere to vent about it so here's my rant: ![]()
